20 Minute Makeover 2008

By Khoa Ly-Kilis -

On April 18, 2008 we rolled up our sleeves, pulled on the gloves and headed out to fill our garbage bags for the Vaughan 20 Minute Makeover hoping that year after year our bags would come back less and less full of garbage and instead of doing a 20 minute clean-up every year, we could go out and enjoy a 20 minute walk in the clean green spaces around us.

It was a great day to get out and work as a team to clean-up our community (although to be honest, some of us got bit by the competitive bug and you could hear whispers of “my bag has more garbage than your bag”).

While we found many interesting things on our adventure, perhaps the most important thing we found, or more accurately we were reminded of, was our sense of stewardship. A rewarding 20 minutes, so much that we aim to do 20 minute makeovers throughout the year.
